May Bee
Another gorgeously warm autumn day, albeit disconcerting (the planet has just reached 400ppm of atmospheric CO2), for our monthly working bee.
We planted, we pruned, we picked, we composted, we dug over, we collected, we watered, we organised, we chatted, we planned, we swapped recipes, we taught our kids, we learned.
Another joyous working bee; a community transitioning to a carbon responsible food system.

April bee
A warm overcast Autumn day saw twenty-four community gardeners attend the Albert Street garden today. We planted pak choi, leeks, cauliflower, cabbages, broccoli, lettuces, broad beans and a small white lavender bush. We harvested cucumbers, potatoes, tomatillos and tomatoes and we rebuilt the compost heap, cutting and tearing up the larger organic materials and adding moisture to the many dry layers.

A free-dragging working bee
To celebrate Chill Out, Australia's largest regional Gay and Lesbian festival held annually in Daylesford, we community gardeners stepped into drag action, or at least a few of us did, for this month's working bee.

DSC Food Forest makes front page news
The Advocate newspaper today...
DAYLESFORD will soon boast a five-acre food forest, thanks to a partnership between Daylesford Community Food Gardeners, Daylesford Neighborhood Centre and Daylesford Secondary College. The food forest will build on permaculture principles and will boast more than 60 species of food producing plants, a poultry system and bees.Read on here.
Daylesford Community Food Gardeners co-ordinator Patrick Jones said the Daylesford Secondary College Council had already approved plans and the project was now seeking funding. The food forest will be planted at Daylesford Secondary College and will be a fifth community garden for Daylesford.
